SCIENCE EXPLORATION HALLS
Science Exploration Halls at RSC Bhubaneswar are central to the visitor experience, which cover a wide array of scientific topics. These exhibits feature interactive displays and educational panels that bring complex scientific concepts to life in a visually captivating and accessible way.
i) Fun Science GalleryFun Science Gallery is an interactive exhibit designed to introduce fundamental scientific principles in a playful and engaging manner. Curious learners can explore concepts such as mechanics, light, sound, electricity, and magnetism through hands-on exhibits that allow them to see these principles in action. Popular exhibits within this gallery include -
Optical Illusions - A variety of optical illusions that challenge the way our brains interpret visual information.
Periscope and Kaleidoscope - Devices that demonstrate principles of reflection and refraction, allowing people to understand the behavior of light.
Energy Models - Exhibits that explain potential, kinetic, and thermal energy through easy-to-understand real-life examples and demonstrations.
ii) Mathematics GalleryMathematics Gallery at RSC Bhubaneswar provides a mesmerizing insight into the world of numbers, shapes, and patterns. This section focuses on the practical applications of mathematics in daily life and its role in understanding the natural world. Interactive models encourage mathematics enthusiasts to solve puzzles, explore mathematical concepts, and test their problem-solving skills. Notable attractions in this gallery include -
Pythagorean Theorem - A visual demonstration of the famous theorem, providing a new perspective on this foundational concept in geometry.
Mathematical Puzzles & Games - A collection of challenging puzzles that help visitors improve their mathematical reasoning and logic.
Patterns In Nature - Displays that explore how mathematical patterns and sequences are found throughout the natural world, from Fibonacci spirals in flowers to the geometric formations in crystals.
OUTDOOR SCIENCE PARK
Science Park is an outdoor area where science enthusiasts can engage with large-scale science exhibits and principles like gravity, motion, sound, and energy come to life through fun and interactive thinking.
i) The Human SundialHuman Sundial is a unique display in which people themselves become the gnomon (the part of a sundial that casts the shadow). By standing in specific spots marked on the ground, visitors can observe how their shadows change based on the time of day, thereby learning about the Earth’s rotation and the basics of timekeeping.
ii) Gravity WellGravity Well uses a sloped, spiral well to demonstrate the effects of gravity on objects in space. One can roll balls down the slope and observe how they move in elliptical orbits, mimicking the way planets orbit stars under the influence of gravity. It’s an amazing way to visualize celestial mechanics.
iii) Echo Tube & Sound MirrorsEcho Tube is a long, curved tube that demonstrates how sound waves travel and create echoes. This exhibit, along with Sound Mirrors (large parabolic structures placed at a distance from each other), helps audiences understand the behavior of sound waves and how echoes are created. These installations also showcase the principles behind technologies like radar and sonar.
iv) Simple Machines PlaygroundThis is a perfect example of science in everyday life, demonstrating the foundational physics behind mechanical advantage. Here, one can explore large-scale models of simple machines like levers, pulleys, and inclined planes. These exhibits are designed for hands-on engagement, enabling science explorers to experience how these basic tools reduce effort and make work easier.
3D SCIENCE THEATRE
One of the main attractions at RSC Bhubaneswar is the 3D Science Theatre, which brings science to life in three dimensions through powerful storytelling. The theater screens a variety of short films on space exploration, wildlife, underwater ecosystems, and more. With high-quality visuals and surround sound, the 3D theatre creates an immersive experience that captures the imagination of every one present. Some popular shows in the 3D theatre include -
Journey Through the Solar System - An awe-inspiring tour of our solar system, introducing viewers to the unique features of each planet.
Ocean World - A journey into the depths of the ocean, exploring the diverse marine life and ecosystems.
Dinosaur Adventure - This show takes viewers back in time to the age of dinosaurs, highlighting different species and their habitats.
SCIENCE DEMONSTRATION CORNER
Science Demonstration Corner is an area where live science experiments are conducted on diverse areas of Physics, Chemistry and Biology, making scientific principles easy to understand through real-life examples.
i) Physics Demonstrations - Physics demonstrations cover basic principles of Physics, such as force, energy, and momentum. These include experiments with pendulums, gyroscopes, and simple machines, each of which allows audiences to visualize the invisible forces that shape the world around us.
ii) Chemistry Experiments - Live chemistry experiments showcase reactions such as combustion, crystallization, and acid-base interactions. These exposures offer an engaging way for curious minds to see the dynamic nature of chemistry, often resulting in exciting colors, sounds, and even small explosions.
iii) Biology Sessions - The biology section features live demonstrations of natural processes like photosynthesis, respiration, and cell structure. These interactive exposures through microscopes, models and specimens take audiences, and more importantly students to the heart of biology.
INNOVATION HUB & MAKER SPACE
Innovation Hub is a dedicated space within RSC Bhubaneswar where young minds can explore their creativity and scientific curiosity. This area is equipped with tools and materials to design, create, and experiment and encourages problem-solving, teamwork, and critical thinking among the crowd, especially students.
